If you have trouble with your MAX 4000 (no lamp(s) on) and you allready know-how to open the tricky case, you may check the secondary voltage of both power supplies. If you dont know, how to open the case without disturbing the MAX, for a few dollars we have created very impressive help-pages with a lot of pictures to help you.

But take care, if you have no tools and no skill about very high voltage, you should never open a box with "switched power supplies". The voltage can be higher than 10.ooo (ten thousand) volts. This is absolutely killing you. Esspecially a MAX 4000 is not easy to open. If you have never done this, you need our support. We have received a lot of cracked and bent chassis.

The upper unit in a newer MAX 4000 has 4 secondary DC voltages. The +12V DC with 4A has nearly the same copper coils than the -12V. But 4A is very little and the componets are very tight together. No sufficient airflow was designed and comming problems have been expected. This one is the weak part of the MAX 4K.

multi-voltage

The lower unit has 5V only, but with 20A some more power. There are found older ones in a MAX 4000 produced date prior 1995 with 7 or 10A only. This is not sufficient for running any modem board.

single-voltage

	Pricing for exchange both, the single-voltage and multi-voltage unit is Euro 125.- + shipment.
